To start this amazing new year off with a bang, we will have a guest teacher coming in next Tuesday January 27… just to make sure you remember the date… TUESDAY JANUARY 27 …. TUESDAY JANUARY 27.Katrina Badiola from Fr3sh Dance Company will be coming in and teaching the lucky people that show up. Here is her official bio that can be found on fr3shonline.com

FR3SH Juniors Co-Artistic Director || FR3SH Dance Company Core Dancer

Katrina Badiola started dancing ballet at the age of 3 while in the motherland. After moving to America at the age of 7, she started to train at lyrical and jazz. When she was 12, she became a dance teacher for Acadamy of Dance. She was finally introduced to Hip Hop at the age of 15 and became inspired by the underground Hip Hop scene by her loverly awesome smecksey older brother, Carlo Badiola. She finally auditioned for FR3SH Season 5 when she was 17 and within a year she moved up to the position as captain. She is now a core dancer and loves all her fr3shbians!!!

However this bio hardly does her justice. Now let me tell you a little story about KatrinaBadiola and how she inspired me to dance…. I can remember it very clearly.Katrina entered my life in 2002, when she came to my high school. Out of all the high schools in the world, she had to show up at mine. We slowly became friends and then in the Winter of 2004, she chose me out of all her friends to be her escortfor her cotillion. For those who dont know what a cotillion is, wikipedia it. It’s basically a sweet 16 with lots of dancing and etc. I had been in a few cotillions before that, but they were never like this one. The quality of dance was superb. I was also forced to step my dance game up to just try and match her level, which was astronomical. Since that cotillion, i’ve been obsessed with dance, and I owe it all to katrina.
Katrina must be one of the FIERCEST dancers i know. She has the raw energyalmost equal to that of a supernova, but is able to turn control it with the sharpnessof an exacto knife. To watch her dance may be one of the greatest experiences of your lifetime. Her BOOMS make me jump and her CACKS can bring me to tears. Seeing her take command of the stage keeps my passion for dance burning with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. Do not be afraid of her though Her words of instruction can teach even the whitest boy how to get down. Her words of encouragement make me believe in the good of humanity, and make me feel like I can compete with the Jabbawockees.
You do not want to miss it.

Greetings dancers!

In our efforts to provide a complete dance package, tonight’s TECHnique class will be an Introduction into tap.

Tap dance was developed in the United States during the nineteenth century, and is popular nowadays in many parts of the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer’s shoes touch a hard surface. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician (and thus, for example, the American composer Morton Gould was able to compose a concerto for tap dancer and orchestra).” From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In practicing tap, you can develop a new appreciate to hearing the different beats in the song, which is just a good thing all around. So if you have nothing to do, why not try and give it a shot. It’s free and fun! See you there!
